Hip hop entertainment took one giant step forward when King Of The Dot battles started in 2008. For two years now, fans have laughed until they cried, cringed, clapped, booed, belly-ached, debated and recited classic lines from over 200 battles. Combine knee slapping comedy, title fight anticipation, true-school hip hop wordplay and theatrical showmanship and you start to see what makes King Of The Dot Canada’s premier battle league.
King Of The Dot Volume One went down August 8th, 2008 in a back alley in downtown Toronto, Canada. Since then, we’ve released over 200 videos from over 40 events in 4 different divisions (Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver) featuring approximately 150 battle rappers. King Of The Dot’s reputation has grown into a brand recognized for it’s authenticity, integrity and organic hip hop roots. Undoubtedly a pillar of hip hop culture in the north, we have affiliations with other strong brands such as HipHopCanada.com, WorldStarHipHop.com, It Lives In The North, Concrete Guerilla Clothing, Grind Time Now, Bigmouthsonline.com, Detonate Group, YouTube.com & Rogers.
As the league’s notoriety grows, the intensity, coverage and level of competition reaches new heights. Countless media outlets have validated KOTD’s cultural impact with coverage from, MTV Canada, HipHopCanada & Urbanology Magazine to name a few. Cross-boarder battles are now a common occurrence as GrindTime Now/King Of The Dot collaborations further cultivate the battle scene in Canada as well as in the United States.
With over 6,000 Youtube subscribers, approximately 3 million views and event attendance often topping 400 people, KOTD is now an undeniable outlet for raw, yet organized, legitimate and fair one-on-one freestyle battles. King Of The Dot, Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is.
